Top 10 Wedding Moments of 2017

Alexis Alvarez

Welcome to a new year! 2018 has arrived in it's usual frigid Chicago fashion and I'm cooped up in the house with a hot cup of coffee, keeping warm with all of the wedding memories from last year.

HERE ARE MY TOP 10 FAVORITE MOMENTS FROM 2017!

1. Laura's 1st look with dad

JW Marriott Chicago Wedding

Seriously, how sweet is this? Before seeing her groom, Laura took a few minutes to have a moment her first love: her daddy ❤️

2. Liam seeing his bride for the first time

The 1st look has become pretty common for the sake of wedding day logistics. It is FAR easier to take photos before the ceremony starts, but really though... isn't this every girl's dream for her new husband's reaction as she walks down the aisle 😭 Liam & Kara were non-negotiable on this part and I'm so glad they held to it. What a gorgeous moment.

3. Anna & Jon's wedding party praying over them before the ceremony

Garfield Park Conservatory Chicago Wedding

Every new couple needs a solid community surrounding them. You could feel the love & support throughout the entire wedding day, but when I was flipping through photos afterwards and saw this beautiful moment their photographer captured, I teared up. This is a group of people Anna & Jon will be able to lean on in hard times and celebrate with in the good.

4. Miranda & Jack at the alter

This was the 1st Egyptian ceremony I've ever witnessed and let me tell you all: the meaning behind all of their traditions throughout the ceremony are so moving. I especially enjoyed this moment of the couple coming before God as a married couple for the first time.

5. A girl and her dog

The first time I met with Srilaya she told me how much she wanted to have her dog walk down the aisle during the ceremony, but was afraid he'd poop! (I mean, who wouldn't be? LOL) So her groom surprised her by having their pup brought to the church and waiting at the party bus when they came out for their grand exit! She was so surprised and obviously so happy to have her furry friend there on her special day!

6. Laura & Tommy's Carriage Get Away

The Rookery Building Wedding

If this isn't #weddinggoals, I don't know what is! A midnight carriage ride down the lit Chicago streets with your new spouse. CRUSH!!!

7. Melissa & Scott's Fun & Laid-back reception

First of all, these two together are just the sweetest! They really didn't want the hassle of planning a huge wedding so they got married in a civil ceremony back in April & then had a FUN summer-themed party to celebrate in July. Complete with a S'Mores station, candy bar, pizza, a venue with a game room, big screens for game watching, couches to relax & converse on, and lots of beer & dancing! Their guests had a blast and most importantly, so did the guests of honor!

8. Helping designing this freakin' gorgeous wedding

For starters, I definitely cannot take all of the credit here. I had an amazing bride who knew what she wanted, but just needed some help executing it and I had an amazing floral designer as a partner in this. But all of the pieces fell together incredibly and I was so happy about the outcome. I know it was everything Melissa dreamed of for her wedding day.

9. This amazing cultural experience

Matt & Srilaya had a multicultural wedding weekend. They started the weekend off by having a western church ceremony & banquet dinner and then finished off by hosting a Southeast Asian ceremony & reception. Before serving Matt & Srilaya on their wedding weekend I had never been to an Indian wedding before. It was SO FUN!!! There was such beautiful imagery in their service and I got to learn so much about another culture. It was definitely one of the best experiences of the year!

10. Working with these 2 lovely ladies

Northbrook Lisle Naperville wedding

Whenever you hire new staff you're always concerned about how they'll represent you and the company. I was definitely nervous when hiring interns for the summer. Worried they couldn't be counted on & couldn't handle the stress of wedding day. I couldn't have been more pleased by these two ladies. They are both so bright and hard working... and were so patient with me while I was still figuring things out. It was such an honor to share the summer with them and I am so excited to see where they end up!

2017 was an incredible year, but I am so excited about all of the new things happening for the company & all of the new couples I'll get to spend this year with. A very sincere and special thank you to the Kozems, the Newmans, the Bryants, the Bolouses, the Palucks, the Hanninens, and the McGees for trusting a newbie and making 2017 all that it was.
